In St. Charles de Percy War Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 5624335 Private John Sims Stevenson, serving with the Devonshire Regiment who died 13/08/1944.

Heslop’s Local Advertiser 21/09/1946 carries a notice which reads:
“Stevenson – 67 York Street, Pelaw, John, aged 27, Killed in action August 13th 1944.”
