On the Thiepval Memorial is the name of 15737 Lance Corporal Robert White, serving with the Somerset Light Infantry who died 01/07/1916.

Soldiers Died in the Great War states he was born at Morwick, enlisted in Morpeth and lived in Acklington. He was formerly 14510 Northumberland Fusiliers.

Dorothy Hall offers the information that, according to the 1911 Census, he was a coal miner boarding at Stobswood Colliery with his wife Ada Jane Ann White and daughter Ellenor Irene, aged 1.

He is remembered in Ulgham on U1.01
