Donnell, A.P., Lieut., 1916
In Narborough (All Saints') Churchyard is the Commonwealth War Grave of Lieutenant Arthur Patrick Donnell, serving with the Royal Flying Corps and Northumberland Fusiliers, who died 05/12/1916.

Colin Boyd has submitted the following:

He was born on March 29th 1898. He was the son of the Vicar, Rev. C.E. and Mrs. Pauline C. Donnell, who were living in Stamfordham Vicarage.

Arthur was killed while piloting Armstrong Whitworth FK3 Serial 5540 with Airman 1st Class P.B. Gardner who died December 6th 1916.

He enlisted in the Royal Naval Division on June 11th 1915 and left on September 6th 1915 to take up a cadetship at Sandhurst. When he passed out he joined the 3rd Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers and was then attached to the Royal Flying Corps where he gained his wings and died in a crash - all by the age of 18½!

The memorial in Stamfordham Church gives his date of death as 04/12/1916.

He was brother to Ernest Tudor Donnell
