Hardy, H., L/Smn., 1918
On the Vis-en-Artois memorial is the name of Tyneside Z/1221 Leading Seaman Henry Hardy, serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who died 25/08/1918.

Colin Boyd has submitted the following:

Henry was born on 17th January 1895 and was working as a miner living with his parents, Henry and Mary at 353, Bolsover Street, Pegswood, Morpeth when he enlisted in the Royal Naval Division on 6th November 1914.

He was posted to the Nelson Battalion in France on 9th January 1917 and was invalided to the UK on 3rd November 1917 with an injury to the left knee.

Henry joined the Hawke Battalion on 15th March 1918 and was posted as killed in action on 25th August 1918.

Henry Hardy is remembered in Morpeth on M17.17 and M17.31
