George was born in the Jan-Feb-Mar quarter of 1890 in Horton, Northumberland (near Shankhouse and the Three Horse Shoes).

In 1901 the 11 year old George was living with his parents and siblings at 3 Double Row, Horton. George’s father was 52 year old Joseph Dobinson, a coal miner, deputy overman, and his mother was 32 year old Mary Alice Dobinson. George’s siblings were Ann (19), Mary Annabel (8), Robert (5) and Margaret (3). Also living in the household at the time were Joseph’s son-in-law 24 year old Ralph Walton, a miner hewer, and his wife (another of George’s sisters) 21 year old Jane and their 1 month old child, Joseph.

George is recorded as having married Ethel Littlehales in the Apr-May-Jun quarter of 1913. They had a son, Kenneth, on 11th February 1916.

George Dobinson died on 25th October 1918.
