Jobson, G.T., Sgt., 1942

In Chevington Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave with a private headstone of 1287935 Sergeant George Truman Jobson, serving with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve who died 28/11/1942.

The headstone reads:

In proud remembrance
George Trueman Jobson
Sgt./Obs. R.A.F. V.R.
born 8th March 1922, killed 28th Nov. 1942
Also in ever loving memory of
our dear mother
Mary Edith Jobson
who died 11th September 1961
And of our dear father John Jobson
who died 7th February 1970 aged 91 years.

Sgt (Air Bomber) G T Jobson of 75 Sqn was killed in Short Stirling BF399 AA-O, which crashed on a training mission on November 28th 1942. It came down in farmland near RAF Oakington after stalling trying to avoid a head-on collision with another Stirling.
