Patterson, A., A/Smn., 1915
On the Helles Memorial is the name of KP/638 Able Seaman Andrew Patterson, serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who died 03/05/1915.

Colin Boyd has provided the following:

Andrew was born on 25th June 1882. He was working as a stoker living at 31,Ravensworth Street, Willington Quay when he enlisted in the Northumberland Fusiliers on 4th September 1914. His next of kin was noted as his father, George of 42, Campbell Street, South Shields whose address was later changed to 32, Ravensworth Street, Willington Quay.

Andrew transferred to the RNVR on 10th September 1914 and joined the Anson Battalion on 28th February 1915. Andrew was reported as being killed in action in Gallipoli on 3rd May 1915.

Andrew Patterson is remembered in Willington Quay on W56.05
