Barry, T.M., A/Smn., 1917
On the Thiepval Memorial is the name of Z/8423 Able Seaman Thomas Maughan Barry, serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, who died 17/02/1917.

Colin Boyd has submitted the following:

Thomas was born on 21st September 1889 and was working as a coal teamer living with his wife, Susannah, at 42, Hadley Street, Percy Main, when he enlisted in the Royal Naval Division on 8th Novemebr 1915. (Note: Susannah later moved to 9, Rippon Terrace, North Shields.)

Thomas joined the Anson Battalion on 26th November 1916 and was killed in action on 17th February 1917.

He is remembered in Percy Main on P22.01 and in Tynemouth on T36.14 page 4
