In Tynemouth (Preston) Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 1641385 Aircraftman 2nd Class John Charlton Prince serving with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve who died 24/10/1942.

The headstone reads:

In loving memory of
my dear husband
John Charlton Prince, R.A.F.
killed by enemy action
24th Oct. 1942, aged 39 years
Also his dear wife
Jane Ann
who died 30th April 1983
aged 79 years.

He is remembered in Tynemouth on T36.09
