Sgt. Osborne was serving with 138 Squadron. He was a crew member of Halifax V LL119 NF-L which took off from Tempsford on Operation Detective 3. They met adverse weather conditions on the return flight and crashed into trees whilst trying to land at Woodbridge. Five crew were killed, three were injured.
