In Preston Cemetery is the family headstone for Jennings which reads:

Edward Jennings, V.C.

Date of birth circa 1820
Died 10th May 1889

In Memoriam
"We remember"

Mr. Jennings was a Rough Rider with the Bengal Artillery. He earned his Medal at the recommendation of the men of the regiment for his actions during the siege of Lucknow 14th-22nd November 1857.

He died 10/05/1889 in poverty and was buried in a pauper’s grave until somebody took the matter up and raised the headstone by public subscription.
