Menin Gate Memorial
Angela Conroy has submitted the following from the Shields Daily News 29/05/1915:
“Mrs R Saunders of 46 Park Crescent East, North Shields, had received word from a Captain at the Front, that her brother, Private James George, of the 5th Durham Light Infantry, was killed in action on the 20th inst.”
Soldiers Died in the Great War says that he was born in North Shields, enlisted in Castle Eden and lived in Horden.
He is remembered in the DLI Book of Remembrance page 124
