On the Thiepval Memorial, Somme France, is the name of 21/835 Private James Hindmarsh, serving with the 21st (Tyneside Scottish) Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers, who died 01/07/1916.

He was the husband of Isabella Hindmarsh, of 65, Oswin Ave, Forest Hall.

Morpeth Herald 18/05/1917 carries a brief obituary:

Mrs J. [sic] Hindmarsh, 65 Oswin Avenue, Forest Hall, has been informed that her husband, Private James Hindmarsh, reported missing on July 1st, is now presumed killed.

James Hindmarsh is remembered at Longbenton on L25.02
