On the Arras Memorial to the Missing. France, is the name of 23187 Private William Thomas Blain serving with the 24th (Tyneside Irish) Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers who died 28/04/1917.

Morpeth Herald 15/06/1917 carries the following:

Mrs Blair (sic), 23 Hazelrigg St., Dudley Colliery, has received news that her husband, Pte. Wm. T. Blair (sic), has been reported missing since April 29th.

He is remembered at Dudley as Blain, T. on D34.01 and D34.05
