Macintyre, G.D., Lieut., 1916

In Gordon Dump Cemetery, Ovillers-la Boisselle is the Commonwealth War Grave of Lieutenant George Duncan Macintyre, serving with the Yorkshire Regiment who died 10/07/1916.

Newcastle Journal - Monday 24th July 1916

'LIEUT. G. D. MACINTYRE
Lieut, George Duncan Macintyre, Yorks Regiment, son of Mrs Macintyre, 14 Beverley Terrace, Cullercoats, who was killed in action of (sic) July 10th, was the oldest of three brothers serving at the front. Only a few weeks ago he "hiked" over to where his brother Lieut. Thomas Macintyre was stationed in the lines, and took tea with him. This brother is now also reported wounded and missing. When war broke out, Lieut. George Macintyre gave up his position in New York, and crossed the Atlantic to serve in the cause for which he died.'

George Duncan Macintyre is remembered in Cullercoats on C68.01 where his name is given as "McIntyre".
