Scott, A., A/Smn., 1917
In Roclincourt Valley Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of Tyneside Z/3174 Able Seaman Andrew Scott, serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who died 16/04/1917.

Colin Boyd has provided the following:

Andrew was born on 7th April 1892. He was working as a labourer living with his parents, George and Elizabeth at 42, Huddlestone Road, Cullercoats when he enlisted in the Royal Naval Division on 5th January 1915. This address was later changed to 5, Walker Place, Cullercoats and later still to 31, Back Row, Cullercoats.

He joined the Hood Battalion on 18th July 1915 and was hospitalised with Diarrhoea on 5th September 1915.

Andrew was invalided to the UK from Gallipoli on 12th December 1915 suffering from Dysentery. He rejoined the Hood Battalion in France on 9th December 1916 and was killed in action on 16th April 1917.

Andrew Scott's name does not appear on any memorial. There are two "A. Scotts" on the Cullercoats memorial but they were both privates.
