In Morpeth St.Mary and St.James’s Churchyard is a headstone which reads:

In loving memory of
Jane
beloved wife of Alexander Mackay
who died July 27 1921 aged 65 years
Also their sons
Pte. A. Mackay 23/N.F.
who fell in France
July 1st 1916 aged 22 years
Tpr. J.R. Mackay, 14th King’s Hussars
who died at Basra
Dec. 30th 1917 aged 28 years.
also the aboveAlexander Mackay
died Feb. 3rd 1943, aged 86 years.
Also A.B. Jack Mackay Tyrie, R.N.
grandson of the above, who was
accidently drowned at Singapore
on June 18th 1946, aged 20 years.

In Earsdon Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:

In loving memory of
My dear husband
William Tyrie
Died July 22nd 1952 aged 65 years.
Also Nance beloved wife of the above
died Jan. 15th 1973 aged 81 years
Also their dear son Jack
Died on active service
June 18th 1946 aged 20 years.

Jack Tyrie is remembered in Backworth on B1.01 and on our List of Ships’ crews
