Greater love
hath no man than this,
that a man lay down his life
for his friends.

Sgt/Pilot Taylor was killed while stationed at Milfield, Northumberland. As a teenager, he joined the Air Training Corps in Seaton Delaval. (Information: Mrs. I. Edmonds, his sister).

From "Fatalities at Charterhall October 1943":

"The first fatal accident of the month occurred on the 11th, when ND184, one of the recently arrived Beaufighter VIs, crashed at Cornhill in Northumberland. The aircraft, which was on a day sortie from "C" Squadron, Winfield, suffered port engine failure at 8,000 feet. The pilot, Sergeant Taylor, was killed and his N/R, Sergeant Thompson, seriously injured. Also on board was one of "C" Squadron's instructors, Flight Lieutenant Carstairs, and he too received serious injuries. The Beaufighter was completely destroyed in the crash."

The Blyth News Oct. 1943 carries the following:

"Seaton Delaval Pilot Buried at Earsdon.
Sergeant Pilot Angus McCrimmon Fram Taylor, son of Mr. Frederick Fram and Janet McCrimmon Taylor, of 5 Delaval Avenue, Seaton Delaval, killed in a flying accident, was buried at Eardon on Friday.

A memorial service, conducted by the Rev. A. Porteus, of St. Stephen's Church, Seaton Delaval, was held on Sunday morning at the headquarters of Seaton Delaval A.T.C.

Sergeant Pilot Taylor was 20 years of age, and volunteered for the R.A.F. towards the end of 1941. He eventually went to Canada and America, where he gained not only his R.A.F. wings but also the silver wings of the United States Air Corps. He was the first ex-member of Seaton Delaval A.T.C. to gain his R.A.F. wings, and probably the first in the country to merit the double distinction which is reserved for outstanding pupils at American Military establishments.

When a baby he was taken to Canada, but returned to this country when ten years of age, and completed his education at Shiremoor Modern School, and King's College (Newcastle) where he was an art student. Before joining the R.A.F. he was employed in the art department of a Newcastle advertising agency.

While a member of Seaton Delaval A.T.C. he played as a left half-back in their football team and as a wicket-keeper in their cricket team. He also played a number of games for Newcastle United Reserves as an amateur."

Angus McCrimmon Fram Taylor is remembered at Seaton Delaval on S7.03 S7.09 and Cramlington C60.06
