On the Thiepval Memorial is the name of Tyneside Z/1734 Able Seaman Edward Gibson, serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who died 04/02/1917.

In Earsdon (St. Alban) Churchyard is a family headstone which reads:

Anthony Gibson
of Bates Cottages
who died Oct. 8th 1921
Also of our two dear sons
Tom, 19 N.F. July 30th 1916
aged 25 years
and Edward, R.N.D., Feb. 4th 1917
aged 21 years.
Also Frances, beloved wife of
the above Anthony Gibson
died Nov. 17th 1943
aged ?76 years
Also Mary Graham Gibson
beloved daughter of the above
died July 1917th 1946
aged ?43 years

He was the brother of Thomas Gibson
