In Seaton Valley (Cramlington) New Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave with a private headstone of 943151 Leading Aircraftman Robert Henry Gordon, serving with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve who died 18/09/1940.

The family headstone reads:

In memory of
R.H. Gordon, L.A.C.
dearly beloved son of
Robert and Lily Gordon
of Shankhouse
died 18th Sept. 1940,
aged 23 years.

Robert had been a professional footballer with Huddersfield Town.
