In Gordon Dump Cemetery, Ovillers-La-Boisselle, Somme, France, is the Commonwealth War Grave of 15896 Private W.H. Spry, serving with the 8th Battalion Somerset Light Infantry, who died 01/07/1916.

He was the son of William Spry, of Tavistock, Devon, and the husband of Rachael Spry, of 41 Lane Row, West Cramlington.

Morpeth Herald 25/08/1916 carries a brief obituary:

Mrs Spry, of West Cramlington has been informed that her husband, Pte. W.S. [sic] Spry, S.L.I., has been killed in action.

He is remembered at Cramlington on C60.03
