Morpeth Herald 27/04/1917 carries the following:
Official information has been received by Mrs Stringer of 5 Corving Row, East Cramlington, that her husband, Private [sic] David Stringer, is now presumed dead, after being reported missing since July last. Private Stringer worked as a miner at the Ann Pit, Cramlington.
He is remembered as L/Cpl. W. Stringer at Cramlington on C60.03
