In Port Moresby (Bomana) War Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 408677 Sergeant Robert Forrest, serving with the Royal Australian Air Force, who died 09/01/1943.

In Blyth Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:

Beloved husband of

Died Sept. 13th 1928 aged 71 years.
Also the above Annie
Died March 15th 1938 aged 68 years.

9th Jan 1943 aged 22 years.

Sgt Forrest was the pilot of Bristol Beaufort VIII A9-32 of 100 Sqn, R.A.A.F., which was lost on a mission over Gasmata, Papua New Guinea. The Beaufort crashed at Normanby Island, near Milne Bay, with the loss of all four crew members.

Sgt. Forrest was born at Blyth, Northumberland, on June 15th 1920.
