He was the son of Emily Stevens, of 30, Co-operative Terrace, New Delaval, and the husband of Sarah Lennox Kirkup (formerly Stevens), of 18 Disraeli Street, Cowpen Quay, Blyth.

Morpeth Herald 08/09/1916 carries a brief obituary:

Private G.H. Stevens, 18 Disraeli Street, Blyth, killed in action.

He is remembered at Blyth on B42.01 and B42.24
