Appleby, J.F., Pte., 1916
In Heilly Station Cemetery, Mericourt-L'Abbé, is the Commonwealth War Grave of 2599 Private Joseph Appleby Foster, serving with the Northumberland Fusiliers, who died 18/09/1916.

He is named on a Roll of Honour for Bellringers from the North East of England in St.Paul's Cathedral, London. He rang the bell in Ovington Tower.

Joseph Forster Appleby is remembered at Ovingham on O11.02 and O11.03 and at Wylam on W73.01, W73.02 and W73.03 and at Newcastle-upon-Tyne on NUT098
