Herdman, W.P., mentioned in Despatches.
The Newcastle Daily Chronicle “Mr. W.P. Herdman, son of Mr. J. Herdman, Hill House, Humshaugh, received official information from the War Office, yesterday, to the effect that whilst serving in the Royal Engineers (“A” Special Company) he was mentioned in a Dispatch dated March 16, 1919, from Field Marshall Sir Douglas Haig for gallant and distinguished services in the field, and his Majesty’s high appreciation was shown for services rendered.”
