On the Arras Memorial is the name of 37987 Private John Dodd, serving with the 23rd Battalion [4th Tyneside Scottish] Northumberland Fusiliers who died 20/03/1918.

He was the son of Paxton Dodd, of 13, Haugh Lane, Hexham, Northumberland and brother to Paxton Dodd who also was killed.

The Newcastle Daily Chronicle 22/07/1919 reports:

Local Casualties.
News has been received by Mrs. Dodd, Haugh Lane, Hexham, that her second son, Private John Dodd, Tyneside Scottish, reported missing on March 20th, 1918, is now presumed killed on that date. A brother, Private Paxton Dodd, D.L.I., was killed whilst serving in France in 1917.
