In Haydon Bridge (Old Haydon) Churchyard is a family headstone which reads:

In loving memory of
Ada Elizabeth Wells
died 20th May 1957 aged 82 years
also of John Robert Wells
her husband died 1905 aged 42 years
and interred at Whitburn, County Durham
and Edward Howey, son of the above,
died as a prisoner of war in Germany,
August 1918, aged 19 years.
