In Cambois (St. Peter) New Burial Ground is a Commonwealth War Grave which reads:

47873 Flight Lieutenant
B.E. Dye DFM & Bar
Royal Air Force
31st August 1943 age 23

also his Brother-in-Law
Sgt. George Turner
Commemorated on
Runnymede Memorial

Flt.Lt. Dye was serving with 96 Sqdn. He was the Navigator of a Beaufighter VI V8715 which collided in mid air with a USAAF B17 over Norfolk. Both men were killed.

In front of the headstone is a horizontal stone which reads:

In loving memory of
Mary Dye
beloved wife of
Bertram Dye
and sister of
George Turner
died 3rd April 1995
aged 78 years.

Bertram Dye is remembered at Stakeford on S71.02 and possibly at Choppington on C36.01 where the name “B.A. Dye” is given.

George Turner is remembered in Stakeford on S71.02
