In St. Bartholomew's Churchyard is the Commonwealth War grave with a private headstone of 1133491 Aircraftman 2nd Class Robert Robson, serving with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve who died 15/05/1941.

The headstone reads:-

In loving memory of
No. 1133491 A/C
Robert Robson R.A.F. beloved son of
John & Agnes Robson who was Killed
in Action May 15th 1941 Aged 18 years.

AC2 Robson was serving with 16 Operational Training Unit (OTU). He was a crew member of Hampden I P1350 which took off from Upper Heyford on a training flight. An engine failed and the aircraft crashed into a field in Oxfordshire. All five men were killed.
