In St. John's Churchyard is the Commonwealth War Grave with a private headstone of 315193 Serjeant W. Taylor serving with the 35th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers who died 29/06/1918.

The headstone reads:

In
loving memory
of
Sergt. William Taylor
25th Batt. N.F.
beloved husband of Jane Taylor
died June 29th 1918, aged 57 years.

He is possibly remembered at Hirst on H62.06
