On the Thiepval Memorial is the name of 25/1207 Private Henry Patterson, serving with the Northumberland Fusiliers who died 01/07/1916.

The Blyth News 04/07/1921 carries the following "In Memoriam" notice:
Patterson: In loving memory of L/Corpl. Henry Patterson, 25th N.F., beloved son of Oswald and the late Winifred Patterson, of Cambois, killed in action in France, July 1st, 1916."

Derek Johnstone and Carole Fife have provided the following:

Henry Patterson was born about 1895 at East Sleekburn, Bedlington. His parents were Oswald Patterson, born at Earsdon, and Winifred Patterson, born at Morpeth. Oswald Patterson was a putter in the coal mines.

Henry’s family, including sisters Emma 9 and Winifred 10 months, were living at Boathouse Terrace, Cambois, in 1901. The 1911 Census shows Henry and his family living at 31, Boathouse Terrace, where he is employed in the coal mines as a putter aged 17.

Henry Patterson enlisted at Blyth and served with the Northumberland Fusiliers (Tyneside Irish). His name appears in Ireland's Memorial Roll of Casualties of War.

His effects went to his father which would indicate he did not marry.

Harry Patterson is remembered at Cambois on C6.02 and C6.04
