On the Arras Memorial is the name of Tyneside Z/2778 Leading Seaman Cuthbert James Mavin, serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who died 19/07/1917.

The photo adds his middle name of James.

Margaret Allison reports that he lived as 12, Middle Row, Ellington, and was aged 25 years when he died.

Cuthbert James Mavin is remembered in Morpeth on M17.17, in Bothal on B48.01 and in Ashington on A17.43
