Ince, R., Pte., 1916
On the Thiepval Memorial is the name of 23/190 Private Robert Ince serving with the Northumberland Fusiliers who died 01/07/1916.

Carole Fife has provided the following:

Robert was born in Choppington on 14th January 1883 to Elijah and Isabella Ince, the seventh of eight children, and was baptised on the Ashington and Newbiggin Methodist Circuit on 18th August 1884. Elijah and all his sons were miners and moved between pits in the area. In 1911 Robert married Mary Ann Hunter, moved to Bedlington and had two children, George (1912) and Isabel (1915) He enlisted in the 4th Tyneside Scottish (23rd NF) and was killed on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.

He is remembered in Bedlington Station on B163.04
