On the Loos Memorial is the name of 10802 Private John Neil Clausen serving with the Northumberland Fusiliers who died 27/11/1915.

Carole Fife has provided the following:

John was born in South Shields in 1881 to Peter and Elizabeth Clausen. His father was a sailor originally from Norway and his mother was born in Norfolk. In 1901, when working on a farm near Hexham, his name was spelled Clawson in the census. In 1911 he was living in New Delaval and working as a screener at the pit. In 1912 he married Mary Dodds, and they moved to Bedlington where he enlisted in the Northumberland Fusiliers. He was sent to France on 9th September 1915 and died just over two weeks later.

He is remembered in Bedlington Station on B163.04
