On the Loos Memorial is the name of 20104 Private David Thain, serving with the Northumberland Fusiliers who died 27/09/1915.

Carole Fife has provided the following:

David was born in Liverpool in 1879. His parents died when he was young and he travelled in search of work, arriving in Bedlington by 1911, when he lodged at 1 River View, Bank Top, and worked as a hewer. He married Elizabeth Griffiths of Liverpool in 1914. He enlisted in the 12th Battalion with Michael Murphy and was killed in the first major engagement of the War. He is remembered on the Loos Memorial.

He is remembered in Bedlington Station on B163.04
