BEDLINGTON STATION

Hay, W.G., Pte., 1916
In Boulogne Eastern Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 3684 Private W.G. Hay, serving with the Northumberland Fusiliers who died 24/06/1916.

Carole Fife has provided the following:

William was born in 1878 in Horton near Blyth, the son of Robert and Elizabeth Hay. In 1891 his family was living at Puddlers Row, Bank Top, Bedlington, but in 1911 he was lodging there and working as a colliery cartman. I cannot find a marriage for him.

He is buried in Boulogne Eastern Cemetery, so he was probably wounded and died on his way home.

He is remembered in Bedlington Station on B163.04
