In New Irish Farm Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 2666 Private Robert Foster, serving with the Northumberland Fusiliers who died 24/05/1915.

Carole Fife has provided the following:

Robert was born in 1894 in Seghill, the son of Thomas and Barbara Foster. In 1911 the family lived at 20, Freehold Row, Barrington Colliery and Robert was an endless rope boy in the mine.

Robert arrived in France in April 1915 and died of wounds suffered in the Second Battle of Ypres. He is buried in New Irish Farm Cemetery.

He is remembered in Bedlington Station on B163.04
