Cowen, T.H., Pte., 1916
In Rue-Petillon Military Cemetery, Fleurbaix is the Commonwealth War Grave of 23/541 Private Thomas Henry Cowen, serving with the Northumberland Fusiliers who died 20/02/1916.

Carole Fife has provided the following:

Thomas was born in 1889 in Morpeth, the youngest son of William and Elizabeth Cowen. His mother died when he was seven and he then lived with his sisters.

In 1911 he was living at Moorland Cottages, Bedlington Station and working as a hewer in the coal mine. In 1914 he married Julia Richardson and they lived at Routledge's Buildings, Barrington.

He was killed in action and is buried in Rue-Petillon Military Cemetery, Fleurbaix.

He is remembered in Bedlington Station on B163.04
