BEDLINGTON

Hay, J., Strapper, 1916
In Bois-Guillaume Communal Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of RTS/3192 Strapper James Hay, serving with the Army Service Corps who died 13/02/1916.

The Morpeth Herald 25/2/1916 reports:
Mrs Hay, of Jubilee Terrace, Bedlington Station, has received word that her brother-in-law, Sapper James Hay, has died from wounds.

There appears to be an error in the tasks performed: he was not a sapper but a strapper - he served with the Remount Depot and worked with horses.

He is remembered in Bedlington on B15.02 and B15.26 page 54
