On the Runnymede Memorial is the name of 1533997 Sergeant William Forster, serving with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, who died 12/06/1943.

Sgt Forster was killed when Avro Lancaster III ED935 of 156 Squadron was lost on a mission to Munster. The Lancaster crashed in the Ijsselmeer, with the loss of all eight crew members (it was carrying an extra crew member as second pilot).
