Jennings, G., Pte., 1917
In Roclincourt Military Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 98911 Private George Jennings, serving with the Machine Gun Corps (Infantry) who died 26/11/1917.

Carole Fife has provided the following:

George was born at Bedlington Bank Top in 1889. His parents, George and Margaret ran a general dealer's shop which had been founded by his grandfather Benjamin. After his father died in 1903 Margaret ran the shop with George's help. George enlisted in Newcastle into the Cameron Highlanders as Private 29325, but early in 1917 he transferred to the Machine Gun Corps.and died during the Battle of Arras. The 'Blyth News'of 10/12/17 quotes letters to his mother from his section commander and one of his friends.

He is remembered at Bedlington Station on B163.04
