Rhodes, H., A/Smn., 1915
On the Helles Memorial is the name of TZ/1474 Able Seaman Henry Rhodes, serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who died 06/06/1915.

Margaret Allison states that in 1911 he lived in High Market, Ashington and was aged 23 when he died.

Colin Boyd has provided the following:

Henry was born on January 1st 1892. He was working as a miner living with his wife, Lilley at 125, Chestnut Street, Ashington when he enlisted in the Royal Naval Division on November 9th 1914.

He joined "C" Company of the Hawke Battalion on May 3rd 1915 and was killed in action in Gallipoli on June 6th 1915.

He is remembered in Ashington on A17.01 (A17.27) and A17.43
