On the Thiepval Memorial is the name of 26/54 Private Thomas Blackburn, serving with the Northumberland Fusiliers who died 01/07/1916.

In Seaton Hirst (St.John) Churchyard is a family headstone which reads:

In
loving memory
of
William
the beloved husband of
Alice Blackburn
who died at North Seaton
Colliery
Feb. 7th 1899 aged 50 years.
Also Alice, wife of the above
who died Feb. 13th 1921 aged 70 years.
Also Thomas, son of the above
who was killed in France
July 1st 1916 aged 35 years.

Margaret Allison states that in 1911 he was living at 20 Fourth Single Row, North Seaton, and was aged 35 when he died.
