Henderson, G., Cpl., 1938

Although this man was not killed in war, he was training in the R.A.F. when he was killed in 1938.

In St. Peter's Churchyard is a family headstone which reads:

In loving memory
of
George Henderson
Corp. R.A.F. Observer
dearly beloved son of
William and Jemma Henderson
Scremerston
who was killed in a flying accident
at Oulton, Norfolk, 11th Feby. 1938
aged 25 years.
Sweet memories.
Also of the above
William Henderson
who died 14th February 1951,
aged 65 years.
Also the above
Jemima Henderson
who died 7th July 1918
aged 83 years.

George Henderson was serving with 144 Squadron. He was a crew member of Blenheim I K7119 which crashed in Norfolk during a snowstorm when it hit a tree.
