In Damascus Commonwealth War Cemetery, Syria, is the Commonwealth War Grave of 43477 Flying Officer John Norman Craigie, serving with the Royal Air Force, who died 15/06/1941.

Flying Officer Craigie, of X Flight, Amman, was killed when Gloster Gladiator K7947 was shot down on a patrol. The patrol, consisting of six Gladiators, was intercepted by Dewoitine fighters of Groupe de Chasse III/6, led by the French ace Pierre le Gloan. The unit had been subordinated to the Vichy Government after the fall of France. Of the six Gladiators, two were shot down. Follow the link below.
