An unidentified newspaper reports
"Last week we reported the death in action of Pioneer Wm. Wilson, son of Mr. John Wilson of Shilbottle Village. Further sad news has come to the family that the second son, Pte. Mossman Wilson was killed in action on 23rd April. He was mobilised with the N.F. when war broke out, and volunteered for active ?? in Gosforth. He went through the second battle of Ypres carnage, and took part in several other engagements, including St. Eloi, was wounded in Hooge June 15th 1915, went back in the following November, was wounded again at Guillemont on the Somme in August but did not get to England. He suffered from a dislocated shoulder in the Somme last November and was back in March. . . ." (the rest is indecipherable)
His brother William Wilson also died. A third brother survived.
