In Rock St. Philip and St. James churchyard is the Commonwealth War Grave with a private headstone of EX.3471 Sergeant Jacob Atkinson serving with No. 45 R.M. Commando, Royal Marines who died 25/01/1945.

The headstone reads:-

In
Ever loving memory of
Jake Atkinson
Sergt. Royal Marines Commando
Beloved husband of Evelyn Atkinson
Who died Jan. 25th 1945 aged 27 years

A silent thought brings many a tear
Of one I lost and loved so dear
A beautiful memory, a smiling face
A broken link I can never replace
