Campbell, T.R., Rfm., 1918

On the Pozieres Memorial, Somme, France, is the name of 26533 Rifleman Thomas R. Campbell, serving with the 9th Battalion King’s Royal Rifle Corps, who died 21/03/1918.

In Felton Cemetery is a family headstone for Campbell which reads:

Sacred
to the memory of
Rifleman Thomas Campbell
9th K.R.R.C.,
youngest son of
John and Annie Campbell
Old Felton,
who fell in action
near St. Quentin,
March 21st 1918, aged 25 years.
Greater love hath no man than
this: that a man lay down his
life for his friends.

(Elsewhere is the dedication to Annie, beloved wife of John Campbell, who died 6th May 1928 in her 80th years. Also the above John Campbell died 30th January 1939 in his 84th year.)
