Hedley, F., A/Smn., 1917
In Hamburg Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of Tyneside Z/767 Able Seaman Francis Hedley, serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who died 03/07/1917.

Colin Boyd has provided the following:

Francis was born on 24th November 1892. He was working as a miner living with his parents, George and Mary at 1, Greenfield Terrace, Amble when he enlisted in the Royal Naval Division on 28th October 1914.

He joined the Hood Battalion on 25th November 1916 and was posted as missing -POW on 4th February 1917. Francis died of consumption at 9 am on 3rd July 1917 in the Reserve Lazarette, Munsterlager.

Francis Hedley is remembered in Amble on A13.07
